Item Description: | BUILT ENVIRONMENT & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES edited by Simge Andolsun, Arzu Temizsoy, Meltem Uçar As 2005 Gyula Sebestyén Award Winner Middle East Technical University CIB Student Chapter organized the "1 st International CIB Endorsed METU Postgraduate Conference on Built Environment and Information Technologies" under the auspices of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) and Middle East Technical University (METU) Department of Architecture on 1 6 - 1 8 March 2006, in Ankara, Turkey. The conference was aimed to be the peak point of the award winner proposal entitled "Widening the Communication Network of CIB" by providing face to face interaction among the invited academicians, practitioners, researchers and students involved in the fields of Built Environment and Information Technologies. 60 papers and 1 0 posters were orally presented during the conference by the participants from 13 different countries to thus provide an international forum for discussing, learning and networking. The proceedings, compiled herein under respective headings, mainly focus on the Built Environment from various perspectives. Within the general area of concern, the publication embodies six parts, namely, "Information Technologies", "Education", "Design: Theory and Planning", "Management", "Environment, Sustainability, Performance", "History, Culture, Tradition". It will, therefore, be of interest to researchers, architects, engineers and practitioners interested in the field of Built Environment.
